Qsymia
Qsymia is a combination medication that contains phentermine and topiramate extended-release. Phentermine helps suppress appetite, while topiramate affects certain brain chemicals involved in appetite control. Qsymia is commonly prescribed for individuals with a BMI of 30 or higher or those with a BMI of 27 or higher and at least one weight-related condition. The combination with topiramate allows for a lower dose of phentermine, meaning it is safe to take this medication for the long term. Common side effects may include tingling in the hands and feet, dizziness, insomnia, and dry mouth.
