TREATMENT OF ROSACEA

At CMA Medicine, a variety of skin conditions can be treated with minimal downtime. The pulsed dye laser is used for the treatment of vascular lesions, such as Rosacea, sun spots, facial veins and Port Wine Stains. Stretch marks, warts, scars, and psoriasis can also be treated with this pulsed dye laser. The pulsed dye laser delivers a burst of light into the area of treatment that is absorbed by the blood vessels or melanin in pigmented areas. The blood absorption results in vessel coagulation dissipating redness in the area.

Patients often report a tingling or warm sensation during the treatment similar to a sunburn. The skin is protected by the Dynamic Cooling Device TM, which delivers a cool burst of cryogen before each laser pulse to cool the skin. Throughout the treatment, ice packs will be provided to the patient followed by a cold hyaluronic acid mask to calm redness and inflammation.

The pulsed dye laser device has safely been used since the 1980s to treat pediatric patients for the treatment of port wine stains in infants and children. It is a safe effective laser treatment with the capabilities to treat a variety of conditions. This laser is also great for Rosacea treatment.

Possible side effects of the pulsed dye laser include discomfort, crusting, bruising, scarring, and pigment changes. Some patients experience redness immediately post treatment that often resolves within 24 hours. Along with the redness, there is also a risk of bruising that may occur after treatment. This bruising often disappears in three to five days. Patients can also experience swelling which can be minimized by taking an oral antihistamine.

The amount of treatments vary depending on the area and the indication. In general, most patients require about 4-6 session spaced 1 month apart. Patients diagnosed with rosacea often require maintenance treatments every six months to prevent the reoccurrence of redness.

#ad Anyone who says they love shaving is a damn lie. Don’t you wanna live that life where you don’t have to scramble to shave before a beach day? Go see my girls at CMA Medicine while laser hair removal is BOGO. Yes. BOGO, Y’ALL. And tell them I said see ya next week 🙋🏽‍♀️

LASER TATTOO REMOVAL

At CMA Medicine, we offer state of the art laser tattoo removal with PicoWay technology. The PicoWay is a picosecond Q switch laser used for tattoo removal that targets the ink using photo-acoustic technology, therefore, allowing the most tattoo clearance. The ink is broken into tiny particles that are then cleared by the body. Due to the short pulse duration used with the PicoWay, the risk of scarring is decreased and the tissue surrounding the tattoo is left safely intact.

What can I expect post-treatment?
Immediately post your laser tattoo removal treatment the area treated may be tender to touch, swollen, and blistered. Cold compresses, topical steroid, and Aquaphor can be used to help relieve any discomfort during the healing process.

What are the possible side effects post treatment?
Skin hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation, scarring, and infection are side effects of tattoo removal. Please avoid sun exposure for one month prior to treatment as well as sunless tanning lotions or sprays. It is critical to avoid UV exposure to the treated area for one-month post treatment. Good sunblock and physical coverage are important factors to promote healthy healing.

Please avoid any exercise for 4 days post your laser tattoo removal treatment. Avoid hot showers, Jacuzzis, and saunas for 24 hours. Pool water and salt water should be avoided until the area is totally healed (generally one week). Cleanse the area two to three times daily with an antibacterial soap (i.e. Softsoap) and apply antibiotic ointment every morning and night for 7 days post-treatment. Do not pick the treated area as an open wound can increase the risk of infection.

How often are treatments?
We recommend a series of 6 to 10 laser tattoo removal sessions spaced 8-10 weeks apart. Some treatments require more than 10 treatments. The amount of treatments varies depending on the individual’s skin type, ink, and timeframe.
